8. The last person to collect a Civil War pension passed away in 2020

Unfortunately, the daughter of a Civil War veteran who was qualified for her father’s pension because of a medical condition passed away in 2020. Her father was a brave soldier during the Civil War, and he was among those who joined the Union Army right before his old infantry was entirely killed in the Battle of Gettysburg.

He married Irene’s mother during the Great Depression, when he was around 80 years old, and these kinds of marriages were pretty common at that time. Irene was entitled to this pension, and many people may be wondering how much it was. Well, the pension was only $73 per month.

  5. Our Congress people today need to read this and review our history. Especially about where we sll came from throughout the world, equal protection and the right fo vote. Certain ones come to mind more than others but all need a refresher.
