5. Two years before his assassination, Lincoln was shot at and nearly killed

Soon after “The Cotton Blockade” in the evening of August 1863, Lincoln decided to go to his summer residence alone, but something unexpected happened. A gun rang out, and a moment later, a horse bolted into the compound with a bareheaded Lincoln hanging from his mount.

A private guarding the gate heard the shooting, however, Lincoln didn’t want to make a big thing out of this and told the guards to keep this incident between them. As a matter of fact, the president was lucky because the two soldiers that found his hat said that it had a bullet hole right through it!

I guess a lot of people got mad after this incident that “happened to coincide” with the previous event we were talking about, and various sources said that a lot of Englishmen wanted him dead. But let’s agree to the fact that these are mainly conspiratorial theories.

  2. I’m surprised that there is no constitutional amendment providing for how any state can leave the United States or stating secession can’t be done.

  5. Our Congress people today need to read this and review our history. Especially about where we sll came from throughout the world, equal protection and the right fo vote. Certain ones come to mind more than others but all need a refresher.
