Dead outlaws were photographed after being propped up

The entire exploitation of gangs and famous outlaws was oftentimes chronicled in papers all over the country. It seems that when they went down in history in a blaze of glory, the people living in those towns wanted some proof, so the authorities decided to show their work to any other future lawbreaker who might want to come to town.

With the invention of photography in the first quarter of the 19th century, the corpses of deal outlaws would be put on display, for one final photograph.
