6. During WWI, The United States forcibly institutionalized women for STI treatment
Who knew that American history had so many interesting facts? One of them is that when America joined WWI in 1917, the health of the American soldiers was one of the most important things. That’s why the officials came up with an extreme solution, which was called the “American Plan,” since they wanted to protect them from getting any contagious diseases.
This “plan” included institutionalizing women who were suspected of having STDs, and they were forced to stay there for three months. A lot of them were examined against their will in order to get treatment for infectious diseases.
In fact, these rules were applied outside the American border as well. In Great Britain, a similar policy was adopted in order to keep both soldiers and women safe during the war.

They could have said what year the USA acquired Alaska.
Also, that Hawaii was annexed to the USA several years after the Hawaiian kingdom was overthrown by American citizens.
