4. Independence Day didn’t happen on July 4th
One important event in American history is Independence Day, which is mostly associated with freedom, fireworks, spending time with family, and celebrating the fact that we are proud American citizens. But did you know that this event initially didn’t happen on July 4th? Congress passed a resolution on July 2nd, removing America from British authority.
However, John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence for the first time on July 4th in an effort to publicize the vote. The declaration of intended independence from British control was signed by 56 men, and eight of them were British from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.

They could have said what year the USA acquired Alaska.
Also, that Hawaii was annexed to the USA several years after the Hawaiian kingdom was overthrown by American citizens.
