There is a lot of history that isn’t taught in class when you look beyond what is covered in textbooks. That’s why a lot of people are probably unaware of many strange facts and fascinating anecdotes about American history. Even if our continent is not as old as Europe, for example, we still have a lot of history that’s worth sharing with our kids and grandkids. And because one can only hope to learn about their country as much as possible, we continue searching for interesting events that are less well known to the public but that are worth mentioning.

They could have said what year the USA acquired Alaska.
Also, that Hawaii was annexed to the USA several years after the Hawaiian kingdom was overthrown by American citizens.
