4. Sara Jane Moore
The fourth female assassin on the list is Sara Jane Moore. She was the second woman, less than 20 days after Lynette, to attempt to assassinate the president. Apparently Sara’s “dirty work” wasn’t on the first try because the Secret Service had previously targeted her, but they determined that she posed no threat. One day prior to the assassination attempt, police had taken her pistol and ammunition.
Due to a malfunction in her gun, Moore shot once but missed. When a witness tried to take the weapon away from Moore, a second shot fired and hit another person, who lived. She admitted guilt and received a life sentence, but was released in 2007 after 32 years.
