Hitler’s decision to marry Braun the night before they both died gave Braun the fulfillment she had long yearned for. In a ceremony held in Hitler’s Berlin bunker on April 29, 1945, Eva Braun changed her name to Eva Hitler.
Hitler knew they would be gone by the next afternoon, so that was the only reason they got married. On their wedding day, Eva Braun was wearing a black dress, Italian shoes, and diamond jewelry. How ironic! Shortly after they got married, Hitler began planning their suicide.
Apparently, even if he insisted he would die alone, she was eager to follow him wherever he went. Hitler’s death wish was that their bodies be cremated.
