#4 Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church

The early 20th century saw the rise of the conservative Mormon movement, which allowed its members to openly engage in polygamy. However, when Warren Jeffs took over the FLDS Church after his father’s passing in 2002, things truly started to go south. Within one week, he had married nearly all of his father’s wives. He then declared himself in charge of coordinating all unions within the cult, including those involving minors and followers.

It didn’t take long for his wrongdoings to catch up with him. A warrant for Jeffs’s arrest was issued in 2005 after he was accused of molestation of a minor and other offenses. He was finally jailed in 2011 for inappropriately touching two minors whom he claimed to be his wife. In a Texas state jail, he is currently serving a life sentence plus 20 years.

  1. I found this article to be very well written, with fascinating revelations!
It is a little disappointing, however, that there is no mention of the Jonestown massacre. Any information about James Jones’ cult is excluded.
