6. Who was the president between October 1919 and January 1920?

President Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in October 1919, but it wasn’t revealed for another four months. Wilson’s health and capacity to carry out his responsibilities as president were not officially addressed until that point.

This whole thing made many people suspicious, and this is how another one of the presidential mysteries was born. After a while, people began to wonder if Wilson was really here doing his job or if his wife, Edith, may have been in charge of the country’s affairs all along.

Although she most definitely was—and was the first woman to do so—this information was withheld from the American people until after Woodrow’s passing.
