Nannie Doss
If you have ever heard about the serial killer that was dubbed “Giggling Granny”, know that she was not an urban legend or a made-up one, but an actual female serial killer by the name of Nannie Doss. While the main reason why she was apprehended was that she murdered all of her five spouses, her list of victims is actually way longer than that, and it only included people that were part of her family so that she could take the insurance money after they passed away.
Her rooster of victims includes her five husbands, two of her sisters, her mother, two of her children, one of her mothers-in-law, and two of her grandchildren! However, after the trial in 1955, she was only found guilty of killing four of her five husbands, along with her mother, one of her sisters, one of her grandsons, and her mother-in-law, since she only confessed to those and pleaded guilty to them. Because she was a woman, she was sentenced to die, but she got life in prison.
Her serial killer nickname comes because she morbidly couldn’t stop herself from laughing as she remembered how she made do with her husbands!
